KilkennyThe City is built on the banks of the river Nore and is a place that is steeped in a rich heritage which has resulted in it becoming one of the top tourist destinations in the country.

This heritage is evident in the large number of historic and medieval buildings throughout the City and its envoirns including places such as Kilkenny Castle, St. Canice's Cathedral and Tower, Shee Alms House, Rothe House, The Black Abbey, St. Mary's Cathedral, The Town Hall and St. Francis Abbey.

In 2009 the City celebrated its 400th year since the granting of City status. Kilkenny is also regarded as a centre of culture, craft and design. Major annual events based in the City include The Kilkenny Art Festival, The Cat Laughs Comedy Festival and The Rhythm and Roots Music Festival
